Yurikago Day Care Room for Infants on Waiting Lists for Public Nursery School (Non-Regular Use)

The Yurikago Day Care Room for Infants on Waiting Lists for Public Nursery School (non-regular use) is intended for situations in which childcare is needed urgently.
“I was raising my child at home, but suddenly circumstances have made it difficult to do so.”
“My child has been admitted to a local nursery school, but I’m having trouble finding childcare until the enrollment date.”
“I was using another nursery school, but it was suddenly closed down.”

The above are just examples. Please contact us in other circumstances as well. The eligibility requirements are the same as for the regular Yurikago Day Care Room.

If you wish to use the service, please read the following requirements carefully and then complete the necessary procedures.

Please note, however, that the usage period should generally be less than one month, and there may be cases in which the service is unavailable due to having reached capacity.

*As of December 24, 2024, the service is also available for healthy pre-elementary-school children aged 15 months or older.

Period of availability From April 2, 2025 (Wed.) to March 31, 2026 (Tue.)

Eligibility requirements Students, full-time faculty members, researchers (who work 30 hours or more per week, including JSPS fellows), and medical staff (who work 31 hours or more per week) affiliated with Kyoto University, who have children under 15 months of age. Please note that persons who are on childcare leave, or whose spouse is on childcare leave, cannot use the Day Care Room.
Children who can use the service Healthy children between 9 weeks and 15 months of age.
As of December 24, 2024, the service is also available for healthy pre-elementary-school children aged 15 months or older.
Days on which the service is available Monday to Friday
(Excluding national holidays, the anniversary of the university’s foundation (Jun. 18), and summer and winter vacation periods designated by the university. In addition, the office may be closed temporarily when the director of the Kyoto University Gender Equality Promotion Center deems it necessary due to unavoidable circumstances.)
Hours of operation 9:00 to 18:00
Outside-hours childcare is available from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00 (a separate fee is required).
*If a storm warning or emergency warning has been issued in Kyoto City as of 8:00 a.m., please refrain from using the facility to the extent possible. Also, if a storm warning or emergency warning is issued during childcare, please come and collect your child promptly.
Fees 2,500 yen per day / 2,000 yen for students (tax included)

The overtime childcare fee is 1,000 yen per 30 minutes / 800 yen per 30 minutes for students (per child, tax included)

Note: Applications for overtime childcare must be made by 4:00 p.m. on the previous day of operations. In principle, overtime childcare requested any later than this will not be possible. If you do not apply for overtime childcare and the children do not leave the facility until after 6:00 p.m., the overtime fee will be 1,500 yen for 30 minutes (per child, tax included, no student discount) regardless of the overtime period.

*1) Disposable diapers, milk, snacks, meals, lunch boxes, etc., are not included in the fee, and must be provided by the child’s parents. Powdered milk and snacks are available for a fee of 2,000 yen per month (per child, tax included) if desired.
*2) If multiple children, including twins, etc., are using the facility, the fee per child will be 80% of the designated fee.

You may be asked to submit an application form, depending on the current number of people utilizing Yurikago.
